However, there aren’t many places like Cedar Rapids. You’d really be surprised at all the excitement and bustling opportunities the city offers. With the new Bohemia District founded in 2009, there is a whole new feel to the area. Not only this, but the venture bred new economic life into what was once a historic district. The Village was established by immigrants and offers some of the most exciting events, shopping, dining, and entertainment the area has to offer. This being said, this is just the start!
Cedar Rapids Ice Arena
The Ice Arena might even be newer than the Bohemia District, opening its doors in 2000, but with a capacity of nearly 4,000 people, the center is one of the most popular in the region. It was mainly and obviously built for hockey, but the venue has already served as a host for several popular events. Some of the tenants have included RoughRiders (USHL) and the Iowa Hawkeyes Club Hockey (ACHA). Whether you are a fan of hockey or ice skating, you’ll appreciate everything this new venue has to offer.
Penguins Comedy Club
It is always soothing to let out a good laugh, but enjoying a good, heart laughter session can be more than a mental refuge at the Penguins Comedy Club. What makes this club so special is they are host to new and upcoming acts. There have been some notable names come through here, but every Friday and Saturday starting at 8 pm, you can catch a new and upcoming comedian. And these aren’t just your run-of-the-mill laugh about individuals. You’ll likely see some of these newcomers hit it big. Get on your phone and make your reservations because seating will be limited to first-come, first-serve.
Seminole Valley Park
